Concord in the Colonial Period: Being a History of the Town of Concord, Massachusetts from the Earliest Settlement to the Overthrow of the Andros Government, by Charles H. Walcott (Boston, 1884). 8vo, xiv + 172 pages (including a 20-page index).  The Digital Editions on CD-ROM © March 2010.

This short volume, wrote Walcott, “is the result of the labor of many months spent in exploring the original sources of our town's early history, — researches made in the belief that a re-examination of the authorities, conducted in the modern spirit of historical inquiry, would develop new and interesting facts, and enable us to realize more fully the stern but conscientious self-denial, persevering industry, and sturdy good sense that actuated the settlers of this town.”

Prominent families of the community, as represented in this volume, included (among others) BLOOD, BULKELEY, FLETCHER, HAYWARD, HOSMER, MERIAM, PROUT, SHEPARD, SMEDLEY, WHEELER, WILLARD, WOOD, and WRIGHT. For all the families and topical contents  of this volume see the on-line index.
